These pics were taken right after I got it in my garage and I hadn't cleane it yet.
Right now it's full to the edge so tomorrow morning I can see if there were any leaks.
Makes a good sump for my future 200g I suppose.

Please share your thoughts on usefulness and tips!

There's a slight chance that it may have been used in a system running copper though, which tends to get absorbed by the silicone sealant in the tank and leached out over time. Were there any shells of snail eggs or tube worms anywhere in the tank? If there's evidence of live inverts then you should be good...

Clean it with some vinegar and you are good to go, no need to worry about copper leeching from silicone.

Grats on your find! It's funny, I'm always am on the lookout on trash day too. Is it strange that I think the folks that use Brute trash cans for trash are missing out, or old/retired reefers? LOL!

From all I've read, vinegar should remove any traces of copper from the tank and silicone. Silicone and glass do not absorb or leach it back copper. An old wives tale of sorts, apparently. With a good cleaning the tank should be fine. Calcerous materials may though absorb and leach copper, so I would dispose of them if unknowns. GL!!

Exactly, that rumor has spread through this hobby for years, I personally have used tanks and other items that have been in coppered systems in reef tanks with no issues whatsoever. Like mentioned calcerous and highly pourous items like live rock would be the main concern.

I found a 37 tall in the trash a few years ago. It was my first saltwater tank. Been a thriving reef ever since. Good find

Update filled with water. I'm sure I had a reason to put those skulls in there but I forgot...
Tank isn't leaking and I suppose I'll wah it with vinegar then, thanks everyone!
