how big is he, I have lots the size of a dime in my sand and 2 the size of a softball that hide in the rocks. I have had no problems with them. They only come out at night, and I havent really seen them eat anything.
There are many very common species of hitch hiker brittlestars in this hobby. Most people with LR have them and have no idea. It is highly highly highly highly highly highly unlikely that it will do any harm whatsoever. I see no reason not to put it in your main tank. Without a picture it is hard to know but it may very well be full grown anyway.
