Hi,
I'm officially a mantis keeper too now :)
I wasn't quite ready yet, but I couldn't resist, I was at a LFS to trade a coral with another RC member, as I was talking to the owner of the store another customer walks in holding a bag and holds it up to one of the people behind the counter, "is this a mantis?", I sorta mumble 'if it is, i'll take it'.. so here I am with my free mantis :D

I'm having a hard time ID'ing it from Dr. Roys list, maybe I should make it searchable ;) anyway, I've got a couple decent pictures, hope they do the trick..

congradulations on the free mantis, you will soon be obsessed with them, i went from wanting a small one to all of a sudden having a peacock, 12 gallon tank setup for a small one and im setting up a 90-125 G for either one or a pair of Lysiosquillina maculata which get up to 16-17 inches fully grown

Thanks!

that should be interesting, I sorta made a deal with my way too understanding wife to trade in 3 tanks for one bigger one at home, I got around that by putting a tank at work, wonder where I'm going to put my 'other' mantis tanks :D
perhaps the dentist across the hall wants one... hmmmm :)

It's got a name hehe "Loki", it's been very active today, sorta like it takes naps, its quiet for a half hour, then the banging and roaming starts again..
I thought I saw a white meral spot (maybe with some tiny black dots on them?) It's really hard to see, let alone picture, hopefully i'll get more photo ops once it's settled in..

I'm thinking I should pop Dr. Roy's mantis list into a database, so I can put in the features that I know about and let the computer spit out the matching candidates.. could be handy.

Thanks for the link :) that site was a great read..
I need to take more pictures, see if I can get a good shot of the meral spot etc.
I plan to call the store too, see where they get their LR from, that may help as well..

ps. good luck with your new tank :)
