Found out why my clam would not open

Caught the Bicolor Blennie nipping at him last evening. He (Blennie) is in the sump now.

Do you have a 6 line? Would be a good trade in to just get yourself a 6 line if you dont have one already. Those things are a clams best friend.

If the clam doesn't open and your water perameters and lighting is good, I would suspect him.

I had added a neon goby to my 10 a few weeks ago, he was nipping at the clams, not eating them just nipping and upsetting the clams. I pulled it out and traded it back in for a cleaner shrimp.
The guy said he never heard of that before, but it is a cleaner fish and so maybe the little guy thought he was cleaning? who knows but I'm just glad I was able to catch it. Even in a 10 it took me a while, glad I didn't have him in the big tank, I'd have never got it out.

ahaa nice, I like that idea, Tim and I are going to attempt to remove my dragon goby from the 600 with a hook tomorrow, I'm pretty skeptical but if anyone can get them out of my tank I'll give them a free frag of anything they want!

Wow. Good thing you informed us on your experience with neon gobies. I was gonna get a few since I may not get another cleaner shrimp to help clean my fishes. I never know when I have to do an interceptor treatment.

I had a Bicolor Blennie and never had a problem with him nipping at anything. I don't have any clams though and he took care of himself anyways. He thought he would make a nice little dried up cat biscuit on the carpet. Bummer, I liked that little guy, they have so much personality.

My neon cleaner gobies never bother my clams. Sometimes the will perch on one but the clams never seem to mind. And those little gobies are awsome at cleaning ALL my fish. The two of them do the job of ten cleaner shrimp. I havn't ween any speck of anything on any of my tangs in over two months.

Hiawian Cleaner Wrasse was the reason I had to get rid of my clams. It was either him or them and the Cleaner wrasse ate mysis shrimp.
