FOWLR lighting

In the spring I am thinking of adding a FOWLR to my reef tank. But hte FOWLR would be apretty big tank, and the electric bills............. anyway, can less expensive lighting work on a FOWLR? I would tend to think so - it might even help the coralline. Thanks.

By all means. You just need enough light to see the fish by. That's much less than what you need to grow coral

yup.......those were the days when I ran just one 40 watt T12

Cali_reef runs two 5' T5s overdriven with an Ice Cap 660 electronic ballast on a 180g tank and it has more then enough light for a FOWLR tank.

First I need executive approval.......... but my wife loves the reef tank compared to the African Tanks!
