Foxface hardy?

is the foxface a hardy fish? i dont have a sump do nitrates go up to 20 ppm sometimes. also are they reef safe cause i want to make a reef soon.

imo there very hardy and never had any issues in my reef as long as he is well fed, but a 36 gal is way to small for 1

I suggest you upgrade first and then buy the fish. It's better but if u hav ur heart set on getting it then yes they are very pretty hardy just dnt forget to feed it lots of algae.

I half agree with coolall's advice. It's better to wait until you do the upgrade, then get the fish. These fish aren't rare; you'll be able to find one when you do the upgrade. Many (arguably most) planned upgrades never happen, or are significantly delayed.
That said, the reason I only half agree is that I think you need to wait for your next upgrade after the 75g, which is also too small. I felt my last one was cramped in a 200g. One of the issues there is that if the tank is too small, they might start eating things you don't want them to.

I've a pair in a 180g and agree totally with Wolverine that bigger tank is much better for them. I see them being available all the time so might as well wait till after the tank upgrade.

As for the original questions: 1) very hardy, mine have gone through cupramine (very high dose) and hypo and 2) nitrate of 20ppm as you stated is not an issue as I don't have a sump on the current DT either and I tend to overfeed.
