Hi all,
I have had this guy for 4 months in my main tank 36g.
Immediate information:
Today: Fish in quarantine in 10g tank. I have lowered salinity from 1.0245 to 1.0235 using buffered DI. Very good airstone and small powerhead are running in quarantine tank.
Fish is lying on the bottom, respiring very heavily compared to normal. In a matter of hours the fish has gone from moving around a little to barely at all.
I am pretty sure it is useless, but i'm open to suggestion. Fish is not eating since ??? I was not here this weekend and I had an autofeeder set up. Its stomach is cavitated (looks starving).
Yesterday: I got back from a weekend trip to find that this animal had a small patch of white spots (patch probably about 2-3mm, circular, on its side) And, its fins looked raggedy and spotty at the tips. No other parasitic evidence.
I sorta assumed ich, although nothing has been added since this fish 4 months ago. My clownfish are very stressed today (in the main tank), but this could be due to the removal of the other fish this morning (I had to move a rock to get the foxface, and I had to chase him with a net.)
Questions:
1) Is there anything more I can do for the foxface?
2) I have 2 ocellaris that are in my main tank. I am VERY attached to them. Although I have not seen any parasites on them, and they were eating yesterday, they are not eating today. Should I be concerned?
3) Was/is this ich? Is that possible after 4 months of not seeing any parasites and having healthy fish? Or, is this something else? I do not see the parasites on the foxface today. Fins look very ratty, and edges are darkened.
It should be noted that the main aquarium has regularly been going down in temperature to <79 degrees at night, and the other night I saw it at 77.3. This is bad and probably caused decreased immune system functioning. I have turned up the heater. I will watch it tonight.
