My healthy, happy foxface never really seems to have bright
yellow & black coloring. It was always a little dull and at time its coloring is a little mottled....its little black spot would be faded too. I've read this faded or mottled coloring is due to stress, so I'm concerned, but the fish has always eaten well and appears happy.
Anyway...this past Sat the foxface was moved to a larger tank. During the 'capture' process its coloration changed to awesome yellow and black. I could tell my foxface was ****ed by the way it was holding its fins out, and its coloration was beautiful.
On Sunday the foxface was back to its dull coloration, but enjoying its new larger tank with it's Kole Tang buddy.
The fish appears healthy, is a good eater and happily co-exists with the other tank fish. But what is up with its color?...or lack thereof?

My foxface gets like that. I got him a year ago and he went in my 55. Later last year, we moved him into our 125 which also has a yellow tang and powder blue tang. He didn't seem as skittish and his coloration was more of what it was supposed to be. But every so often he gets that "marble" color. Give him time.

My foxface has that dull look to him but is fat and happy.

Whenever foxfaces come in at the store I find they tend to change color (pale out or become mottled) due to mood, or perhaps some would say stress. Not to say your guy is stressed.
