I haven't actually spoken with anyone who has been stung, but what I've read is that it hurts - a lot! I haven't heard of any fatalities. The standard first aid for fish envenomation is to first call 911 (in the US) then make sure that somebody else in the home is told what has happened, and then soak the affected body part in as hot of water as you can stand - to try and denature the proteins of the venom.
