Hello,
I've read a lot of articles on marine ich and marine velvet disease but I still cant diagnose my fish. Ive had the foxface for about a month and in the past week he has been covered in white spots. There are like 10-20 spots on him, but he is still eating well and seems to be breathing normally. The wiered thing is that these spots come on and off sometimes withing the same day, every where I read the trophont (feeding) stage lasts around 3-5 days. If there were no other symptoms I would have assumed that these white spots are just sand/bubbles stuck to him but, where the spots show up the skin around them darkens and stays dark even after they fall off. The foxface also isnt flashing, the only other possible symptom is that his top half is brownish rather then yellow most of the time since we got him, although I see it turn yellow sometimes. I would like to know if this is ich or somthing else.
Also, my clownfish just recovered from a Lymphocystis infection but now is covered in tiny whites spots, about the size of a pinhead. He is eating and is moving around but not flashing. The other clownfish that never got sick also now seems to be covered in the same kind of white spots. Now, I am not sure that this is ich because the spots are really small and there are alot of them, but I am not sure that it is velvet either because the clowns dont have alot of extra mucus, or any sort of poweder/dull film over them. I cant determin how their breathing because they move around and their gills are really small.
Lastly, my royal gramma has been rather reclusive this past week. I have seen him out only at feedings and all of today he has been lying on a rock. He still eats what ever food gets near his mouth but he is not darting around eating like he normally was. I cant tell if there are spots on him but I have noticed that his tail fin and pectoral fins are frayed a bit. They are not red at the base or a change in colour around the edges so I doubt its fin rot or ammonia poisoning, because my water condtion is perfect (no2= 0 no2=0 ph=8.2 dkh=9). Also, I recently started feeding gut loaded brine with spriluina so that my foxface and bicolor get their greens in their diet. Could this be making my gramma sick? What could be wrong with him?
The only fish that is not sick is my bicolor angel which has been doing great since I got him, even though I though he would be the hardest to take care of.
Thanks for the help!
