Frag rack question

Those are also called rare earth mangets.....but I don't think they're reef safe at all.

***just read that they are coated in epoxy that makes them reef safe.

Rev seems to have success with the magfloat so that's what I'm gonna go for. I might decide to setup somethin' small like a 15 gal (24x12x12) or get one of those 24"x12"x6" GC tank since I have a 2x65w aqualight not bein' used. I don't know...

I just purchased a mag rack from e-bay. It looks pretty good and it uses NEODYMIUM Magnets for mounting. From what I have read this type of magnet is safe in the reef aquarium. Does anyone have any experience with these racks sold by Oceanwonders on e-bay. Search "NEODYMIUM MAG RACK" and you will find it!

Once I get mine I can post a review on here to follow up.

That's the one I bought, but w/out the "new and improved" magnets. They also have a website outside of Ebay from what I remember. FYI, These magnets rusted pretty easily, and the rack is prone to flip over. Maybe the new external magnets helped with that, but I wouldn't buy one again. I'm making my next one with a mag float....

Well, I guess time will tell... I love this hobby, sometimes I feel that I should of put the $20 in the fire and at least warmed my hands. Thanks for the heads up Tennsquire.

Well, I ended up goin' to Home Depot and buyin' a piece of egg crate. I'm gonna need it later anyways. I made a small one for my 20 gal. with a mag float. I didn't glue it, I used wire tie and it worked great. The rack is held tight to the mag float. I was tryin' to get some good size pieces of my purple cap, but it would break into small pieces. Had to scrape some off the glass and it was gowin' too close to my hairy shrooms. My frag discs and plugs should be in Monday along with my new T5s for my 80. I'm gonna mount the caps then move them to the larger rack I made for the 80 and let them grow some. They are more purple than the pic shows.

and those green digis to the right, wasn't my plan. My clowns like to frag it for me. Serious, they take their nose and just break branches off.

The cool thing is that you can get the medium mag float at PetSmart for about $7 because they price match. :D Thats what I'm planning on doing soon... probably this week. :)

Dude... you are the man, Steve. I am SOOO glad you thought of zip ties! I swear they're the duck tape of reefing... even the Aquarium Restaurant had them on everything. :D

I am really impressed with these magfloats. I just used the 125s as thats what I already had and they hold more than fine. I was a bit concerned to begin with, but its one of two things: either frags are lighter than I thought or these magfloats are stronger than I thought. :D

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks, Steve, for the zip tie idea. The big one (my wider one... I'll take pics later)I glued and zip tied, tho, just to be sure. I think I'm going to change my signature. ;)
