Frag swap in Connecticut

So i was at the frag swap meet in Ct. yesterday and wanted to know what everyone else thought. I was quite impressed. It was my first of this type of event and i was blown away by the number of vendors. I bought a 4 frags of cyphastrea, 3 chalices, 2 birds nest , and some rasta zoas. The pricers were very good from some of the vendors. Some were overly expensive as usual. There were more than one instance of the same pieces being sold in the same room by two different vendors for wildly different prices but to each his own. I bought two cyphestrea from jason fox for $70 total. He was asking $40 a frag but easily accepted $70. He was a little shocked when he asked if I wanted to know what they were called and i replied i Don't care i just like how they look. He had some really nice ( and expensive) pieces but at much cheaper prices than Ive seen around and for about 1/2 what he sells them for on his site (plus no shipping fees). I got the Rastas $15 for a 6 polyp plug. (Local LFS selling them for $15 a polyp!) I ventured in to the world of SPS with what Ive heard is the easiest, Birdsnest. I bought 2 small frags for $20 a piece. A green one and a green one with blue tips. I hope they do well for me and grow as Ive heard. Anyone else with thoughts???

Frag Farmers' Market was pretty off-the-hook!

Like you, it was my first time, and I found it exhilarating. Came home with zoas, acros, a blasto, rock-flower and maxi-mini carpet 'nems (and a little red carpet 'nem, which is just ... different.) and a few hardy first-step SPS. Green and hyacinth birdsnest, hyacinth ... stylo? - and some of the more durable acros. And a wrasse.

While the opening hours were filled with excitement (and buyers! If this thing grows any more, they'll need more parking!), I found that as the event went on, folks had more time to just open up, chat and share - and that prices on the remaining items went into decline, as well. There are things in my tank that were all but stolen! (>_<)

Completely amazing event, all 'round - and I never even really _looked_ at the raffle, or got over to the fragging demonstrations!

Yeah prices definitely went down as day went on. I got two nice chalices and a cyphestrea from one nice woman vendor for $100. The chalices were listed at $50 and the cyphastrea at $40 but it was late and she was tired. She said make an offer took a little hailing but basically got the cyphastrea free. Ill def be back next year but ill get there a little later to avoid the initial rush crowd and do better on the pricing. these vendors are not looking to schlep all this stuff home so they def come down as day goes on.
