Frag swap in Montgomery

I forgot to add that if we did one in October or early November, we could it as a gauge for interest in a larger one (more like what we are used to seeing) in the April time frame-splitting the ETRC and MTRC interval. By then, we would have more structure, if even just as a social group.

Social meetings can serve as swap fodder, too;). Every meeting even before we were MTRC was a chance for people to build wish lists from other local reefers and swap at the meetings. This lead to wanting more variety in coral, so we branched out to try to bring in more different regions.

I tend to muddy the water with my incessant ramblings, but let me know your thoughts. If we start meeting somewhat socially and discuss theoptions of forming a more formal club (or staying the same-in either case, if there is money involved, there needs to be multiple people identified as leads for liability, etc.). Frag swap discussions would be easier with more input instaneously:). We'd be willing to offer our house up for a social meeting, if there is interest. We got upwards of 30 people in our house in Nashville and have a bit more room here:). What do you all think?

sounds like you know what you're talking about. I know you've done this quite a few times. All this information you've provided, sounds very good. Let me know if you need any help

I'll second scapes here - I've done other types of clubs before, but never started one from the ground up and certainly not in this arena. Glad you know the road and let me know if you need any help.

I haven't done it 'quite a few times', but I've been heavily involved in the two MTRC swpa prior to this years swap, and took the reins of the club when they were 'passed' to me (was elected as treasurer at the first election, but no other elections for several years, so no one had a chance to get rid of me:D). I learned a lot through the BFI method (brute force and ignorance). I'm pretty sure we can make something work:).

Is anyone interested in a social meeting to see some local faces on August 9th?

Social meeting sounds great. There's enough reefers around Montgomery/Millbrook/Prattville/Clanton that we ought to be able form some sort of network.

Cool. That'll give us a chance to meet each other and put some faces with names. I mentioned above that we'd like to offer our house for the first 'gathering'. That'll give us a chnce to discuss the ideas for a frag swap and develop some sort of a plan forward. I'll start a thread for the get together.

Im in bham and probably and the meetings would be difficult to attend. I would do anything I could to help with the frag swap though. Maybe even try and set up for the first time...
