Frag Swap ?

Blindside

What kind of stuff do you look for at a frag swap? Equipment? If so like what? Obviousley corals but rare stuff or cheap stuff. I have been to every swap the club has put on and last year was awesome! I'm asking because I would like for all of us who set up tables to get a better understanding of what our reef community is hunting for at these swaps? Better understanding will lead to more of what we all want :)!

Thanks!

I like the rare stuff myself. Nice chalices and acans, nice SPS like blue tort, pink lemonade, ORA stuff. The common stuff is easy enough to find just about anywhere, but it's nice to get the higher end stuff where you can see it in person, and not have to order it online without knowing exactly what u will get. Then again, this is Memphis and it seems most reefers around here want common stuff like zoos, Kenya tree, Xenia, hammer and frogspawn, etc. Memphis is not a high end coral market from what I have seen. Maybe I'm a coral snob...lol

Also, Mark Meisen will NOT be here this year and you might recall: He had some awesome Acans last year, so this is an opportunity for someone.....

....well another way to say that is that there are many members that are in different stages of experience in the hobbly. Those that have been around a long time want to see unique corals as they have "been there done that". The newer members are not ready to take on more difficult corals or take a chance on a $150 coral, and have not had the joy of owning all the "common" corals yet. By starting with "common" corals they build confidence and with succcess will then advance to the more challenging or unique corals.

So I think you cannot categorize our members one way or the other and would not throw all your marbles in one direction or the other. Subsequently, I would say you should market to a crowd that will be looking for both (cheap and unique). My crystal ball says that those lesser experienced might be the higher category and therefore agree with Mr. Coral Snob above....:spin2:
