Frag Tank

Depends on how serious you want to get. IMHO the perfect size is 48x24x12. Have to go custom though. The 40g breeders are 36x18, so if you go MH you waste some light going with 2 and have some low light areas going with just one.

I have a 40g breeder as my frag tank and if it's sustainable, I'm going to have a custom one done. Can always do a 24x24x12 cube as well...

if you want to go custom and don't really worry about "eye appeal" than i would build one out of wood and seal it. that way you can make what ever size you want and not have to pay alot for a custom. also a cheap and easy DIY project. i plan on building one soon but just gathering some items and ideas first.

I personally would go with the fuge.

Many people have touted the 40gal breeder. Don't forget to check out the 30gal breeder. This tank has the same footprint as the 40gal but a little shorter. Which is perfect for a frag tank b/c you can get by with less light... or get more light for your buck.

I picked up a used acrylic prop tank here in dallas for $23

36x24x 9.5 inches...i ended using one big L3 reflector...i currently I am using a converted wet/dry as a fuge...this weekend will usie a 30 gallon tank as a fuge/sump

I would use a refuge and sump as you still need some bio filtration...i currently have 5 lbs of live rock and rubble and softball size chaeto in mine..planning to add more live rock once i put the 30 gallon refuge in there so i can start dosing pappone

works great
