Frag workshop Nov.16th!!

Kreeger1

KING LEAR
The annual C-Sea frag workshop is Nov. 16th. This year it will be held downstairs in the Education building, The Education building is located to the left of the Main Entrance. Several parking lots are located close by that you can use.

This year we will be fragging several different corals including Challice, Acropora's, leathers and possible zoo's and ricordia. This workshop will be a step above the years past so its a must goto event :)

A surprise from www.saltycritter.com He's gave the club a euro rc-80 for the members raffle. So come and see John Jada to make sure your a member and to join up and get your ticket for this item.

Thanks again Dan for this gift!

I'll update this thread with actual items were fragging as soon as they come in.

Please post on this thread if your planning to attend so we can get a close head count for the coral purchases

Can we join the day of? I'm not sure if I'll be able to make the meeting on the 19th. But I plan to join if I do make it.

Yes you can join the day of the fragging. It is actually free to become a member that day instead of just paying to frag. If you aren't a member you pay as much extra as a new membership.

Erik, I have a cheapo wet tilesaw if you guys need it. I don't really want to run it all night but I don't mind letting the club use it.

I wanna get my frags this time. Last couple times I missed out on a couple of the nice pieces. I'm going to wear shoulder pads and plow my way around LOL

How is it free if you join the day of the work shop? Last year I had to pay the membership fee plus the work shop fee if I wanted frags. Is this not correct?

Yeah, but thats the same price for a nonmember to frag. So if you don' want to be a member and you want to frag you just pay the higher amount and forfeit your membership.

Theres to prices member and nonmember. nonmember price equals membership cost and frag cost so buy memebership and pay for fragging equals 1 year of C-sea membership paid in full :)

It's basically if you want to frag corals your a member before the meeting or you become one at the meeting buying paying a up charge for non members :)

Ok, so if I understand correctly. If I join 1year membership fee is $20 (according to the website http://www.c-sea.org/join.html or is it more?). Then there is no additional charge for the frags at the workshop?

The only reason I ask is I would hate to show up and not have the correct amount of $$ on hand and not get the frags =)

The board likely wont know the charge until the corals for fragging have been selected, and a ballpark on attendance is figured. Here is just an example using hypothetical numbers.

NOT ACTUAL COST JUST AN EXPLANATION

Non members pay $40 to participate in the workshop and take frags home.

Members pay $20 to participate, and take frags home.

Everyone will pay something to help cover the coral cost. If you are a member it will be reduced by the amount of your yearly dues...

By the way its awesome to see Salty critter making such great donations. Almost every time I'm in the store I see someone from the club. Looks like Dan has sure noticed, and its paying off for the club!

Now if only he would open a store on the East side =)

yeah...what he said! my car has auto drive to Salty these days... :D

I would like to be there.

do you get to take a frag home for each group? or just 1 frag.(itzme's comment confused me on this)
do you get to frag it yourself? hands on or is it demo'ed.

will containers be provided or should we bring something to take frags home in?

sounds like fun.

There will be several corals...Years past I would guess the average to be 4-7 frags. It's well worth the cost even if you don't manage to get a frag of every pc. Cost/frag size is going to vary based on attendance, quality, and quantity of the corals.

Arm bands, or special name tags were used in the past to designate who paid to frag. There is no reason you can't come watch, hangout, and talk if you don't want frags.

Almost all frags in the past were cut by the person paying to participate. They usually have a person(such as Burgman) at each station offering help/advice. Some coral requires the use of a saw. For safety in the past 1 person has been assigned to cutting on the saw while showing others how its done. The club would prefer you frag your fingers at home :)

Bags are normally provided, but have been in shortage before. Deli containers, fish bags, and a small cooler are a good idea to bring for this meeting.

You should offer to donate a softie, or 2 you have for sale to help distract from the frags you want :)
