Fragging acan lordhowensis

Just bought a large piece, it's doing well and I want to frag it anything special, this piece cost a lot $$, don't want to make a mistake.

Please don't say to do a search, it is always busy.

I use a larger diamond wheel on my dremel to cut all lps's. I just cut right through them. I have never fragged an acan but I would guess it is no different from any other lps.

Just fragged an aussie acan yesterday. Just cut through it with a diamond wheel on my dremel. Didn't pay particular attention to polyps or skeletal structure. Acans are darn near indestructable. Cut away!

Garrett.

If you just bought it, I'd let it settle in for a couple weeks at least. Many an acan has perished because someone was too eager to frag it right after receiving it. Shipping stresses the coral out, and fragging it right away is never a good thing to do.

Yes I intend to let it chill out for a while.

How do you recommend I frag it, how many polyps per unit is a good idea?

What is the value of these frags?

Statements like that make it sound like this is a commercial venture, and that youre buying it with the intention to chop it up and re-sell it. With that in mind, and the fact that is against RC policies, I'll just say its better to enjoy the coral in your tank than look at it as a means of making quick cash.

I use two sizes depending how thick the coral is .. The standard size is like 3/4" and the larges are like 1.5 to 1.75 inch. I buy them off ebay.

I agree let it settle first before fragging it. Also as far as how much it is worth? Basically what someone is willing to pay. Depends on what it looks like and the type. Acan prices are falling some due to the fact they are not rare anymore. Some outstanding peices do still bring in some outrageous prices.

Zeppelin, alot of people buy these corals and sell off a small peice to help pay for it because of the price.

Fragging corals is against RC policy?

What policy is that?

You mean no one here frags corals?
