Fragging Galaxia

i have had a galaxia for about 3 years now and has grown to about the size of my head. I was wondering if there is any way og getting it to start on a new rock or something. i really want a piece in my nano but i dont know how to get it to grow on a new rock. Any ideas???

Just break off a chunk and put it where you want it. Really, Galaxea is a pretty hardy coral.

do i have to breka the rock or just the encrusting part. i kinda dont want to break up the rock becasue right now its a nice show piece.....

You can scrape/cut/chisel/rip a portion of the coral off of the rock. You may find it to have a better survival if you try to get at least 10 coralites in the frag.

I usually do the 10 heads thing but today I just tried doing 1 head to see what happens... Anyone have success with just 1 head?

I've actually done the one head method. Just a single head in my display tank and about a year later it's around 30 heads. Still kinda small but I can see more heads forming all the time.

Wow! That's impressive! I think I should mark in my calendar when I did the 1 head just to see where it is after 6 mo / 1 year! From my main colony which is about half the size of a fist (got it about a year and half ago as just 5 heads or so), I was able to cut 2 10 head pieces over the last 2 weeks and 1 fell off a few months ago when switching tanks.. Yesterday, I tried cutting just 1 head to see what would happen...
