I have a huge toadstool mushroom. The stalk is about 10" and the top is 6-8" across. It keeps growing. How can I frag this beautiful beast? I have heard I can cut the stalk straight across and it will grow back. Any suggestions?
I would trim around the edge. It takes a while for it to grow back if you cut off the whole head. If you cut around the edges you get to keep the overall look even after fragging. The tend to react pretty well to fragging too
You can do either. Cut off a little of the edge, or slice off the whole head. It just takes longer to heal after you slice the whole head off.
There are a few ways to attach the cuttings.
Wedge them between some rocks in the sand
Super Glue them to a rock
Zip Tie or tie them onto a rock with string or fishing line or netting
Stitch them onto a rock through the tissue.
I find a combination of glue and zip tie or string works well for me with most leathers.
Cut the stalk in two places. Take out the middle section. Put the other two sections back together and sew with fishing line. It should grow back together.
BTW I have never done this but there really is no reason for it not to work.
