fragging torch coral.

I bought a torch from the LFS that wasn't dooing so great. It was "Y"shaped with a purple head on one side and a green head on the other both about the size of a golfball. He sold it to me half price and guaranteed it cause it was doing not so hot. I put it in my tank and it came right to live (3 times the light). I was wondering if I could split it at the "Y" and have it in two differnt places in my tank....their is about 2 inches of between each head and the "Y". IF so, how should I do it?

Also, what are good supplements for these corals, I've read they will live and do well off of photosynthesis alone.

A dremel would be best. If you don't have a dremel i'd use a pair of side cutters or bone cutters. If you don't have those next best is a screw driver and hammer.

The coral will grow faster if you feed it, but it is not required.

why not leave it the way it is and have a two different colored torch?? i think it would look cool all grown out with two different colors..JMO..

I completely agree

When you do decide to frag it, you can "simply" snap a head off (at the base). Cutting pliers, dremel tool... lots of ways.

I'm curious,if he frags it and its a single branch with a head on it will it eventually tun into multiple heads and grow new branches?
