fragging zoa question

So the short version of my question is I am getting some corals from a friend. There are colonial hydroids in the tank. My plan is to take the rock and dremmel as close to the zoa base as possible as to not take any hydroids in my tank. My issue is I don't want to make a mess inside the house. Being that it is winter, If I took the rock outside and quickly cut it off, would the cold harm the zoa? If the only way to do this is in the house I will but trying to avoid it...

Do it in the bathtub , as an alternative put the piece under the tap with fresh water and brush with tooth brush the hydroids off then epoxy(putty) over the area with a thin sheet . remove the epoxy sheet a while down the road and fresh Rock no hydroids :) colonial are easy to get rid of digitate not so much lol ;)

Good luck
