Frame/Axel replacement

Hi all,

I took apart my MP10 for cleaning off schedule last night because I found it sitting on the sand. Much to my surprise the shaft was stuck onto the rotor but was still able to spin slightly. When I managed to get it off, the rod was bare metal and the white part (thought it was ceramic) was stuck in the rotor. The pump is about 18 months old, is that a reasonable time frame for replacement of the frame/Axel? I already ordered 2 more frames (one as a backup for my older pump) and a rotor (just in case) from Ecotech.

ryeguy,

That is a very unusual issue, are you using the dryside spacer? I ask because, this failure is typically related to a wetside receiving to much magnetic coupling force.

no spacer. the tank is half inch glass so I think technically it's to thick for the pump but until now no issues. it's on anti-sync with my other vortech that switches between reef crest and lagoon throughout the day.

Are you guys located in Allentown, PA? I hope so because they shipped the frame today so I might have it for Friday (because of Christmas)

nice, you guys should do factory tours, I have a strange interest in warehouses having a logistics background.

Looking at the picture do you think the rotor is okay to use? it looks like maybe it was rubbing on the frame.
