my son came home from school to discover that the water in his 20g turned orange/pink since last nite. i don't mean red algae, i mean the water looks like dilluted orange/strawberry koolaid!
ammonia is 0, nitritates look to be about .5, nitrates about 40! this water was fine yesterday.
there is a high fin goby, 1 chromis, a reef lobster, a clown goby, possibly a jawfish, tho we haven't seen him in months, and i just put a green bta in there over the weekend for temporary storage. i'm wondering if a pi**ed anemone can do something like that? i noticed that the lobster molted too. no fancy lights, got a seaclone skimmer going on it. it has a 3"-4" very chunky sand bed. temp and salinity are about right.
we just did a 5g water change and it looks a bunch better, and will probably do another in the morning, but what the heck??
absolutely no chance that orange/strawberry party drink was dumped in it btw!
