Free: 2 corals

I have a small rock with 2 green mushrooms, and a small frag of a green trumpet coral (maybe 5 or so heads). Preference will be given to those who are newer to the hobby (and to Sue, as she gave me a frag of the trumpet, which this frag came from). Sorry, will not deliver. I live right next to the USF main campus, off 42nd street. Just did tank maintenance, so can't get a good pic now. Maybe later.

I'm new to the hobby. :) Six weeks ago I purchased a fully established 12GA Aquapod with fish and live rock. Been doing pwc and tests trying to get a handle on water params, but everything seems to be stable.

here's a full tank shot when I got it 8/31/10:

Perfect. The mushrooms are yours, and I will wait to hear back from Sue on the Candy Canes before I commit. The tank looks good, I would have guessed that the coarse substrate your using would be causing algae - I guess not :). Keeping a tank that size looking good can be tough.

I have a frag of candy canes w. 8 heads & a red shroom attached that I can throw into the mix if Sue takes yours, Nate.

Bill: That's too nice! You and Travis are very thoughtful! Sue was feeling generous too, and declined on the frags. Looks like mbonus will be stopping by sometime in the next few days, barring any anomalies in his tank parameters.

That's really nice of you guys. That aquapod will be looking sharp in no time.
mbonus be careful reefing can be addictive. It all starts with a few freebies and next thing you know you're spending all your saturdays looking for more. More coral, more fish, a bigger tank, better lights, more more more

Update: Talked with mbonus, and he thinks it may be a few weeks before the tank is ready for coral. Both frags are back up for grabs.

Corals are pending pickup for tomorrow morning. Will keep the thread updated.

That is good to hear! I am glad we got a chance to talk. I really have to get a better handle on the tank parameters before I add some coral. I think I will also change out the substrate to sand to see if I can get my nitrates consistantly below 5ppm.

Thanks for the offer to help a newbie out!

Corals are currently getting acclimated. Nate is an awesome guy! Seriously, this was an awesome gesture to a new reefer.

Hi guys !! im a noobie aslo but im not asking for free stuffs ... just wondering if some of you guys PRO can frag out some of ur stuffs for cheap price so that noobie like us can start this hobby without spending alot of money to local fish store. I'm willing to drive...and i would do the samething if my tank if REEFed :D. thank you

Or i have an idea, from one of the great guy in here told me. He bought one frag of the Xenia and after 2 months it started to spread onto his rock and he thinks it would be nice to give it to someone for free so i take it from him and as soon as it gets onto my rock i will passing it to the next person who wants some Xenias in their tank and hopping he will keep passing down to other...

(Sry for my gramma. English is my second language)

Best part of it is that I now have a nice clean sand bed instead of the nasty crushed coral pictured above. Maybe my setup will soon be hospitable to corals! Thanks for the motivation Nate!
