Anyone want any silver (kinda mirror finsih) egg crate? My work is throwing out alot of it. Let me know how much you want.

I grabed about 15-20 full sheets. Yes it's clean dosen't even look like its been used. I would wash it of course before use. If you want some send me a PM with the quantity wanted and when you want to pick it up.

I would take a sheet or two off your hands. I am in morton, but make my way to washington and peoria often. Let me know. Thanks Dan.

Ok, there is a couple of you from C-U area that asked for some sheets. ( llewoh05, fatheadfisheye, and medic29) . I believe I only have 9 left so I would be more then happy to meet one of you half way (Johnny's Reef :D) one night this week. Sure wouldn't mind a real cheap frag for driving down there. And I stress cheap. My tnak has only been up and running for about nine months and is pretty bare. Oh and if anyone needs some Xenia I will give that away for free too.

If you don't have anything that needs to be trimmed down don't worry about it. I am fairly new to the hobby, so all I have is xenia (alot of it), green leather, orange cup, torch, a small frogspawn, and some zoos. What I would really like (and I would pay for) is a purple tip frogspawn or a hammer.

I think I would find out exactly what the chrome finish on the eggcrate is. Im pretty sure its a coating applied to white eggcrate. Not sure if I would want it in my tank besides the white is cheap, you guys are gonna spend more in gas than the eggcrate is worth.

Yeah, it would be worth finding out what the finish is, although each piece costs around $9 @ Menards and if someone were planning a trip to Johnny's anyway, then the fuel isn't necessarily an issue. If they weren't planning a trip, but were willing to go if others chipped in on the fuel, then it is a good excuse to have to go over to Johnny's.

Just my thoughts.

$9!!! I dont remember it being that much. I guess it would be worth it if it were a group trip.

My exact thoughts. It wouldn't be getting anywhere near my aquarium. $9 eggcrate is cheap stuff compared to what the rest of this hobby costs.

Well I tired calling a couple of different eggcrate light panel manufactures and came up with nothing. I do understand your concerns and would hate for something to happen to someones tank from something I gave them. When I posted this I was hoping that someone had came across this issue before. Just trying to help fellow reefers out because a sheet cost about $13 around here. I gave three sheets to Dave Dunbar over the weekend. I believe he said that he was going to spray paint it. Ask him how it works. And Dave if you have any concerns with it please just throw it away. If I find anything else out I will surely post it.

After further inspection of the egg crate it has a metalic coating on it. I cut some and found it peels off and is white underneath
I would not use it in water!! It maybe fine BUT!! Would be nice for my basement lights though!!
Dave
