Free liverock....at a cost.

I'm gutting my tank and pulling all of my live rock out this weekend. It is free if anyone wants it. It is pretty good stuff, around 30lbs and has some random corals attached to it.

BUT....it has a Oenone fulgida worm(s) somewhere in it. This thing is terrible. It has killed all of my snails, crabs, and some fish.

If nobody wants it I will take it and acid wash it. Then use it in the tank I am setting up at the school by my place.

I had one of these nasty buggers. Well, one that I know of. There may be more, but I kind of doubt it. Chased him for YEARS. Could never get him. He'd stretch out a good foot and a half or more, but when I'd try to get him, his tail was anchored in his spot, and he'd retract at lightning speed. Finally got him when I had to break down the tank he was in.
(One positive of my acrylic tank blowing its seam.)
I didn't have any fish in the tank, but any snails I put in there never seemed to last too long.

How did you end up catching him, if i were the OP i would just fresh water bath everything.

I found him in the sand when I broke the acrylic tank down. He had made some kind of the home for himself out of sand and mucus. you can kind of see where he tried to do the same in the container in one or two of those pics I think

I wish I had the time to freshwater dip everything. We have a new baby due in two weeks so I'm starting over and getting it all done before that happens.

Do you have sand? If so, are you replacing it also? That's where mine was living.
