I posted this in the general for sale section, but given the shipping cost I'm thinking I might have better luck finding someone who can pick it up locally. In any case, I have a no name 3 stage RO filter that I bought about 3 years ago. I added a BRS 2 stage DI filter to it and I've been using it for 3 years, but I've never replaced sediment filter or the carbon filter. Recently I discovered that my city has started using chloramines, so I was looking into options to fight those and it looks like I would need to upgrade to a two stage carbon block filter. At that point I realized that it wouldn't be significantly more to just upgrade to a better RO filter with a TDS meter and pressure gauge and all that fun stuff so that's what I did. I kept the DI filter that I bought separately to use with the new unit.
So if you are in an area without chloramines and you're ok doing a little work to replace the sediment and carbon prefilters on this unit and maybe adding a DI stage at the end then you could have a decent RODI filter for not much out of pocket. The membrane is 3 years old, but it's still working great. It gets my 300 TDS tap water down to 8 TDS and the DI resin gets rid of the rest.
If you're wondering what it would take to get this going, I would suggest the following:
New inline sediment filter: $12.99
https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/omnipure-inline-sediment-filter.html
10" Carbon Block filter: $7.99
https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/matrikx-cto-carbon-block-5-micron.html
Add on DI canister with media: $39.99
https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/single-deionization-canister.html
That's the bare minimum to get a decent RODI filter. You could spend a little more for a better carbon filter or do a two stage DI if you wanted to upgrade a bit, but you could get away with just adding $61 worth of stuff to my unit to make your own RODI water
Free to whoever wants to come pick it up in deltona.
