This frag was given to me by Mihn, It has done great in my tank, I now have a nice sized frag off it for me, I have a nano and am making room for some new items, so I need to give away this larger colony.

It was given to me free, so it could be yours free.

It grows very fast.

It's the big colony in the center of the pic at the bottom with green centers and brown "fingers"

PM me if intersted.
This pic is a few weeks old.

Nice start. I have lots of those polyps, very hardy and sting the crap out of xenia but they look really nice under actinics. I f you bring to the next meeting I'm sure it will find a home.
Get that mag float out of the tank, it collects sand and maybe coralline that scratched my glass something fierce. No fish yet, right? You'll get a pod explosion here pretty soon. I love my nano.

ME!!!! i'll frag it so i can give half of it to my brother for his nano, 1/4 of it to my tank buddy at school, and the other 1/4 can go snug in the corner of my 40 gallon. :)

You gotta keep an eye on your sent folder, takes up alot of your alloted space fast.

By the way those are a type of palythoa commonly called green button polyps .

Very toxic. Do wear gloves when fragging this one. Use paper towels and throw them away promptly.

pico its the opposite...palothas more than zoos.. at least in my experience. I have been mildly poisened by palys similar to these (hot and cold flashes, nervosness sp.?)

Ya, it effects everyone differently but is definately no joke. Ive had weeks of a metalic aftertaste in my mouth before and just some trippy feelings goin on. But no kids, it doesnt get you stoned :pheheh

no kidding??
I have been touching my frogspawn, fondeling zoos' moving around these brown guys getting my hands all over them..

Thus far I have not noticed any side effects?
I responded to the do you wear gloves thread and was surprised how many people wear gloves..

I guess I'm really naive, my body is really tolerant, or I have really think skinned hands??

It's not so much through your hands, the slime gets in contact with your mouth or eyes. Frogspawn can sting you but not the same toxin as palytoxin. Very nasty stuff that. Works two ways, it clamps down your arteries and blows up your red blood cells. The amount needed to cause you to lose your taste for a few days could kill someone else. I don't think the amount in our common corals has been studied much. Zoas (mistakenly called zoos) and Palythoas both contain this nasty stuff in the slime. You can Google paltoxin for more info. Gloves and glasses my friends.
If this doesn't scare you, try this boys:
Palytoxin

Wow I had no idea..
You wear goggles too??

I may just have to get some gloves now, you guys are scaring me into it..

Have you seen these things squirt? Even if it isn't toxic, eewww.
(I added a link to my prev post. You'll never put a bare hand in your tank again.)

Ive felt the same, listening to people as it never affected me before, but, it has but I was doing alot of moving and fragging and a simple thing like a scratch or hangnail could let the nasties in. At the very least ALWAYS wash your hands if you dont wear gloves.
