Scott,
I respect your opinions fully, but what makes the TDS go up does play in to acount IMO. If it was nitrates, copper, iron, etc. I would agree with all you have said. Difference in opinion is what a board like this is all about. The fact is your writing gave the impression "to me" that I was doing it intentionally as if I fill tanks with garden hoses. I take full blame for the TDS in that water and I wish I had just said I am out of water and left it at that. I detected minor salinity in it probably due to the original use of that tank so I guess I needed to rinse it out a bit more, so I will deliver all new Saltwater to Turbosnail if needed. All he has to do is say the word.
The TDS on my main RO Tank (Water used to fill that tank originally) is at 007 using a milwaukee TDS meter model T75. I think Karen can attest to that number. Linda saw it at 012 but I think it was calibrated wrong at that time.
Now as far as "What makes a professional". Anyone that decides to sell frags for money is a pro. I don't recall ever selling a coral before owning this shop. If a friend or fellow reefer wanted a frag of something that I had a lot of, I would give it to them. I still give frags away to "friends". I recall giving a pink birdsnest to you Scott not long ago from my home tank.
Yes I am in this business to make money (at least stay afloat) because I bet my kids future and the roof over their head when I bought this place. I will say this, the auctions have some crazy prices for the frag sizes you get, so its not a profit source form me. I thought it was a nice way to get stuff that is hard to find and meet new people. I guess now that I am the "debil" store owner I can no longer attend. The Tort I got from OWSI died (my fault it fell over in the tank onto a ACAN while I was in San Carlos). I never sold a frag I got at an auction. What I buy is for my addiction as primarily a hobbyist(the other Item I got was xenia from MSM and it also died). I told countless people "NO" when asked to buy that blue Tort as well. I also only sold a few peices of the coral I bought from Roll221 because it was making a few regulars mad at my repeated refusals to sell. They are still on my case for the large table top but that is for my show tank only. Partly my fault for being so slow at getting the show tank up and running and leaving these in a for sale tank.
I hold no grudges it seems like my blunt writing stlye and your style did not mix is all.
Rob
