I know I'm still a novice in this hobby and only recently discovered the wonderful group of people on these forums, but I felt a need to respond on this topic and go beyond just answering the poll. I read what a majority of the folks on the Phoenix forum felt about this and I would say that my comfort level isn't as secure. It's for a few reasons

One: I personally don't want to offend anyone who I don't have a strong relantionship with because I wish to stay on my best amicable terms with everyone.

Two: It might be that there is a more diverse community of options in Pheonix then there are down here. I feel they we have only a handful of places to go if we need to go to a LFS and being in the displeasure of one might have a significant impact on what I want to do. My personality doens't make it easy for me to go to places where I might not be welcome.

Three: Because of the limited locations in our area people might form closer relationships with the owners and employees of thier LFS. Ruining that might be a bad thing.

I wanted to add that this goes for the small speicality LFS. I would not have a problem talking about a huge chain like Petco because they are always indifferent to me.

I just wanted to clarify that I don't think that neither Scott, Matt or myself think that the LFS we went to was purposefully trying to sell us water that wasn't as pure as we thought. We ALL agreed, after the tasting (even though I didn't partake), that it was clearly an unknown error. We knew that if we brought it up it would be taken care of. What happened does not alter my opinion of the establishment, I fully know it was an honest mistake. (Similiar to when to almost bump into someone in the supermarket, a moment of embarassment but both parties are equally happy to apologize and continue on)

Sorry about the run on last paragraph I just wanted to know if anyone else felt the same as I do when it comes to comfort level and maintaining amiable relations.

Dan, very well said...

What makes a professional?

Just because a person owns a store/service company does not mean they have all the answers. I believe a professional is someone who can step up an say;

I don't have the answer to your question but I will find it. More often then not, I have seen many store employees not know the answer to a question and try and B.S. their way out of it.

I think a professional would not argue with a customer to defend their point of veiw. Remember the old saying THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT, I don't believe that but it is human nature to defend your point of view.

I did read the post about the water, but I don't know what transpired outside this forum. It is sad that there are very few LFS in Tucson, and as customers we are stuck with that until a better store opens.

just my .02 cents

Sorry, forgot to anser the pole.
No. but then again I am confident in my aquarium keeping skills, and I think this is a great place for all hobbiest to learn.
