So I just fraged pulled a frag of my purple garf bonsie acro second one in the last 3 weeks the first one is starting to encrust already so will see how long it takes for this one to take...under my cree led fixture...pix to come

AWESOME! Thats a great coral and it looks like you really have it growing well! HAve you found it needs alot of light? What params do you keep your tank water at?

Thanks mesh...it is a nice coral I picked the mother up as a 1in frag about 10 months ago and it grown quite a bit...I keep it in mod/high lighting same with flow

Grim Reefer,
I picked up a small frag of it about 1.5 years ago. Almost lost it when I had a power outage, my alk dropped, and then I overdosed running ULNS.
I literally had a few specs of it left maybe half the sie of a Daisey BB! It's coming back now! I actually have about 4 stubs of it. Each a 1/4 inch or so! Excellent polyp extension and growing and connecting.
I am pretty excited. Nothing to look at yet, but hey she's back on track. Bright lime green polyp's. Nowhere near the dark purple yours is yet!
But it's come a long way. Just need to have some patience!

Did your purple "darken" in color once it got going in your tank? I have looked at alot of photos. Wondering if mine is a "TRUE" GARF BONSAI!

I picked it up at a local fish store thay had it under the par bulbs it was pail and thay had know idea wat it was but I did $10 1" lol got it home and within a month it was deep purple and encrusted and vibrent....wat type of lights are u running???

its a 34 gallon nano tank. 1 250 watt 14K metal halide in a lumenbrite fixture. Close to 300 range in par. Coral is off to one side.

Yours is in a good spot if it growing.. mines off to the side as well...I'm running a 75watt cree led fixture that is about equal in par as ur 250watt my corals in or around the same readings.. u can try supplement with t5's for the color???? Or like u said it more not be the true garf...maby tri color is some kinda false bonsie??? It stays short and encrusting if it true....

Yes, it does seem to be staying short and encrusting for sure! I will give it more time. This little 34 gallon tank can be a real PITA!!!! You have to monitor it really closely! However, I have it dialed in pretty well now!

Thats cheating man! LOL! Thats really a 53 gallon then! I have no sump, just the rear chambers and a good skimmer!

Lol I call it 47 altogether Haha the sumps not full...if I were u id plumb the tank and give it an extra 15-20gal sump...its tough to keep temps stable In a small tank unless u have some kinda temp controler and keep up on wc and supps....auto top off is a good idea to keep salinety stable....
