Anyone know a local place in miami that has good fresh seafood? i need:
5 Oysters
5 Mussels
5 Clams
5 Shrimp
and the first 3 have been hard to find fresh.

Publix, I have found have live clams, and mussels.
Both of which I have put into my tank...I have had publix bought clams in my tanks for a few months (like 4 months now)...all still alive.
I once read a thread in which a guy bought some shell fish at a Sushi Bar. A good Sushi Bar tends to have some of the freshest stuff around.

just be careful a lot of stuff from publix has phosphates added

fresh seafood from publix has po4 added? were do you get this info?

It's on the price sticker from the fish counter, read the tiny print. "May contain phosphate as a preservative agent". Joe, Christy, and I saw this the last time we were making food. Some items said "may", others said "contains", while others said nothing at all. We soaked everything in RO/DI for a while before blending. I'm battling a little cyano right now, which might or might not be attributed to the phosphate in the food.

I'm also looking for a fresh seafood source.

I am confuse, you are talking about the sticker in the stuff from the frozen seafood area or this actually in the fresh seafood that you buy by the Lb and it is usually kept on top of crush ice?

Thats crazy.. So what do clams actually do in a aquarium? Sorry for the high jack. Was wondering what clams help remove from a aquarium.

Rawbomb,

Rawbomb,

Have you found a good source for your fresh seafood? I have been following your other thread on this and it's very interesting.

I live in North Miami, and there's a shop close by that sells fresh seafood. They have even feature on the food network as having some of the freshest seafood in Miami....
This weeken I will get thier name w/ phone number and post it.
I guess I will try them, Publix was my choice but now after hearing that thier ''fresh'' seafood has phosphates, I guess I need an alternate choice.
