Fresh Water Dips

Hi, I've got a 3 3/4" bandit in QT. I noticed some redness and dosed maracyn 2 for 5 days. A few days after maracyn2, I added prazi as a preventative. The bandit was eating mysis and pellets very well, so i felt she was ready for prazi. Well it has been 3 days now and she isn't eating well anymore and has some redness at the base of her pectoral fins. I thought she was having difficulty possibly from excessive flukes dieing off, so my thought was to do a FW dip in to give her some relief.

So, I preped the water, matched the temp and pH and placed her in the 5 gallon bucket. Unfortunatly she just laid still on the bottom breathing heavy! I got scared and put her back in the QT tank after less than a minute. Why did this happen? it has happened to me before with other fish???

Anyone have any thoughts?

What sort of f/w did you use? RODI, RO or just tap? If you used tap, did you treat with a dechlorinator beforehand? I've always used RODI for a f/w dip and sometimes have had experiences similar to yours. I've always just chalked it up to stress and that some fish just freak out when put in f/w.

If FW dip done correctly, that is a normal reaction for some fishes. Probing them with a stick or something should have them perk up and start swimming normal. Half of my fishes that I FW dip do this all the time.
