I can say with a very high level of confidence that it has flukes. I have done freshwater baths and see the flukes start falling off by the dozens. I don't know if there is a problem with a cowfish though. I have gone through 3 treatment cycles with prazipro. The first treatment had positive results within 2 hours. It wasn't up at the top almost gasping for air as it had been for a few weeks. I just figured it liked jamming it self into a piece of coral tight up near the surface for fun, seriously.:spin2:
It sounds funny, but is absolutely not at this point.
Then came the fogged eye with a small solid color center. I called the manufacturer of prazipro (Hikari USA) to make certain that I was using the product properly. I was and am just about to complete the 3rd. treatment. It just won't kill the one on its eye or gills making him appear to be at the point of near suffocation.
Anyway, I'll know within a few minutes in the freshwater if indeed it is flukes. As anybody that has ever performed. That background information wasn't really even necessary; I just need to know if it is safe. I realize it may release its toxin and commit suicide possibly. I wouldn't even know what the symptoms of the toxin release would look like. Every time I have done a dip they always look stressed, but they end up fkuckless. Lets face it, saltwater fish don't live in fresh water. A new word i just invented. I plan on having 4 different containers with maybe 4 gallons in each one. This is so if it does release the toxin i can get him into another container that has no toxin. Or the 3rd one if it is still expelling it. If it appears to not release it at all I will just use one of the other 3 to dip him in for a few moments to rinse him off.
Is this safe and what would be the sign of the toxin be? Additionally, is a cow fish one that cane even be considered for a fresh water bath?
Thanks in advance guys; any input would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, considering that it's Thanks giving, my chances of finding an open store are minimal.
