Freshwater snails for Mantis

Just for ease and cost I was thinking of setting up a snail farm for my mantis food. Somethink like trapdoor or apple snails. Has anybody tried this as a constant food source?

Freshwater anything isn't really good for saltwater fish in the long run. They are unable to break down certain things in the freshwater fish that the saltwater one's don't have. Hence why feeding guppies and goldfish to aggressive fish isn't the best idea in the long run. It will cause malnutrition. I wouldn't recommend it!
