Freshwater Test!

Lol, I'm doing the same right now, freshwater testing a new build. I've found a few leaks so far (not the tank!)... Good luck!

lol - probably because I did the plumbing. My last one didn't leak, but this one has 2 threaded fittings. I've never used them before, but i did situate them so if they DO leak, it will go into the sump.

I used Rectorseal #5 on all my threaded fittings (except bulkheads) and no leaks on those. I definitely recommend it.

First time I flicked the switch during my leak testing, was 100% convinced I was going to end up with a floor full of water too! Biggest thrill to date since starting things up.

I wasn't convinced until after simulating a few power outages, still wondering my my floor wasn't soaked yet!

Dang it. My bottom bulk head is leaking.

Good thing its just freshwater! The advise from this forum which I used on the bulkheads is to tighten as tight as you can go by hand, then turn about 1/4 - 1/2 turn with a wrench. More and it might crack the glass, less and it might leak.

Random no-name that came with my setup. ViaAqua 1800 which pushes ~500 gph. The head loss is just enough that its annoying.
