Friendly advice turned ugly

Thanks Norm, I always like having the last word. To my understanding, you were unhappy because that zoas I traded you were "small". To me, they were average sized zoanthinds, I didn't look at them as small.

Both of our corals were valued at $30. It's hardly worth my time or money to make an extra trip to Columbus to trade back corals. With gas prices, it seems ludicrous. You never offered to come up here and do the same.

I did refund the other guys money, because there was money involved. We had a trade a the swap, no money was involved, why would I give you money?

The fact is, this happened over a year ago. Obviously, you are still upset about it. I also remember PMing you saying something to the effect of "My Dad is in Columbus right now, if you are really unhappy, I will have him bring you the money." To that, I never received a response.

Again, I will try everything I can to make a situation turn out right.
I bent over backwards to make this situation with the lighting unit right, I even offered a full refund if this guy would bring it back to me.
That is the point of this thread, not discourteous remarks about "karma". Especially when the situations couldn't be more different.

No, we're not talking about those lights. They are on my Dad's 200 gallon tank. Thanks. I have bought and sold several setups over time... because I have not found exactly what I am looking for yet. Since I am moving, I have the opportunity to upgrade and I'm currently liquidating most of the stuff I have, to make funds available for a large setup in September.

I did nothing wrong in that situation you are pointing out. I simply could not keep that tank in my 3rd story little Italy apartment. There is also a thread where I'm asking questions about whether it is okay or not to put a 125 in a third story apt. Would you mind looking that up as well? I have since sold the tank, but most of the livestock is in my Dad's 200 gallon tank (where the lights are being used) and I also have some of that livestock. I would have loved to have that setup in my apartment, but it was not practical.

The 125 gallon system is setup at my Dad's house. If you read, there is a reason for everything. I was going to setup the 125 in my apartment. But after factoring some weight equations, I decided that I didn't want to set it up in a 3rd story apartment.

I wasn't going to back out of a good deal. Especiallly since I'm using 75% of what I got, including the tank, lights, half of the rock, corals, etc.

This is why I deal with cash only (can't do charge back on cash), unless it is someone I know and trust then we can do paypal.

Just my two cents.

Norm is a good guy from all that I've seen...

I agree. Dealt with Norm on several occasions and have nothing but praise for him. Always accurately delivered on what was promised.

Well it sounds like the guy who bought the light and reversed his PayPal payment owns his own jewelry store and although not a Columbus BBB member, has zero complaints made to BBB in recent history. That would seem to earn him a reputation as upright and honest in his dealings. Of course he would also know the ins and outs of dealing with finance, and it might be tempting to use that knowledge in an unequal contest, but there is no reason I see here to think so.

In contrast the New York .com guy who had preyed on aquatic plant hobbyists and used the legal system to get some of them to settle paying him real money, not the small amounts at issue here, turned out to have the lowest possible BBB rating.

I never try to attack somebody over one transaction and this case is no different. I simply don't believe that it's fair that I'm out $80 over a used light bulb. In the end though, it doesn't change my life in a major way, so I won't worry about it.

If the reversal would have been 100%, I surely would have fought it, only out of principal. He received a lot of things that were great. In fact, when he saw the canopy he said "I should have bought the stand too". I have heard no complaints on the 2x 4 ft. VHO setup that was included.

I hope that everbody can learn something from this. My lesson is...

Try it before you buy it!

The system worked for me and if I would have insisted that he come to my apartment and then demonstrate that to him, none of this would have happened.
