Frogspawn covered with white bugs

Has anyone else experienced this? They resemble copepods or some type of very small bug. They seam to be localized only to one of my euphylia. Any ideas? Are they bad? They don't seam to be harming it so far.

had this poblem once from a frag i got from someone.. he said the frog never expanded well in his tank, i found out why..IME i dipped the frog and noticed a huge difference in expansion before and after the bugs..

I see. I personally can't really notice any irritation, but then again, I never had the thing "bugless" so to speak. Any idea what they were or related to?

I have the sme thing on my frogspawn & smooth mushrooms. They are about 1/16" long, oval shaped, greyish & appear to have a tiny white speck in the center of them. I can blow them off with a turkey baster & they seem to come back. They don't seem to hurt the mushrooms other than apperance. I would love to know what they are & if they are harmful.

Agarza - Thanks for the great link. I guess that answers some questions, but I still don't know what the heck they are.

CMCGEHEE01 - I too would really like to know what these are. They don't seam to be bothering the coral. I did a fresh water dip, and they didn't even get phased - still in the same relative numbers they were earlier.

I am having a friend come by tomorrow with a nice digital camera. Maybe I can get a good enough image where I can get a positive ID. I will keep you all posted.

Thanks again for the input.

I responded on the link above; I too had these bugs. White little buggers that moved around on the coral, and the coral wasn't expanded well. I actually thought they might have been copepods, but honestly with something that small you'd need a microscope to really see anything. I think I tried dipping it in iodine which didn't work, so I got a sixline wrasse. Since then, the problem has been taken care of.

Sixlines are great at eating tiny little crustaceans like that, and won't harm the coral in doing so. If you don't have one and have other compatible fish, you might consider going the "natural" route to taking care of the problem.

Thanks for the advise Pacman. I do think I have noticed my chromis nipping at them, but it is obviously not enough of a predatory force to dent the population. Regardless, i think for the betterment of the hobby, and my own personal interest, i will keep them around long enough to get a good ID. Perhaps I can even get a microscopic look at them. We shall see.

I have been interested in a 6 line. Maybe when I get my upgrade in effect.

Are you guys talking about flatworms? They will sometimes stick to shrooms and LPS.
