How is the frogspawn looking health wise? If it's healthy I would suspect a fish perhaps ripping tenticles off (I've seen my wrasse have a go), if it's not then there's your answer.

This is actually common. According to Aquarium Corals, Frogspawns will actually release sweeper tentacles from their colony into the water colum. There is a disagreement as to whether this is a form of division (unlikely) or simply aggression. What other corals do you have in the tank?

I wouldn't worry about it. I would, however, remove them as soon as you see them because if they were to land on you scolymia or ricordea they could do some serious damage. I just re-read the section in Aquarium Corals and they said that this happens in otherwise very healthy specimens.

I have a pair of maroons which pick at both my Frogspawn and my anemone.

Started hosting my bubble coral lastweek > GBTA.

My frogspawn has done the same thing. It also looks as healthy as can be. It looked like the tentacles twisted off and released the end peice like a balloon. But I figured it was doing that because it appears to be forming a new head.

It happens in my tank when my fish fight and chase each other past the frogspawn. Occasionally a small piece will come off and float around.

my frog started dropping tips every 2 weeks or so. They would twist off. Now 2 months later I have 2 heads instead of one.

Same here but my torch does this. I think a piece fell into my mushroom and burned it. Either my shrimp or clowns are tearing it up or it is normal behavior.

I had a large torch that did this. It was very healthy. It would also spawn. I had about twenty babies sprout around the tank. I thought they were majanoes and actually started to kalk paste them. I posted the details here http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=300386
Unfortunately, I deleted them from my photobucket account and have lost my computer since then. Most people, including Boreman, thought that the detached tantacles were the start of it all.
