frogspawn fell off its skeleton....

....bought a frag and part of the skeleton was split down the middle of the head. So I pulled it apart, and it did fine for...eh...about 2 months....both parts look very good, but then the soft part from the skeleton that split off fell from its skeleton. Is that a death sentence? I can't get the soft part to stay anywhere in the tank without coming loose, as there's nothing to attach it. But it still expands and...but for the fact that it's not connected to anything, looks quite healthy. Should I even bother? Or is falling off the skeleton its way of telling me it is dying?

polyp bailout (as this is generall known) is usually a sign that something is off with your water chemistry... too much alk, to little alk, ammonia, nitrite or nitrate too high... etc

check everything. I know that people have said that their polyp survived the bailout but its going to take a long time to re-grow skeleton
