I'm wondering if anyone might have thoughts about my slowly dwindling frogspawn..
(If pic doesn't load, basically healthy part of coral slowly dieing from base up to tentacles)
I have s 90 gallon tank, 30 gallon sump (6 months old)
Specific gravity 1.025
Alkalinity 8.5
PH 8.25-8.31 (daily)
Calcium 425

10% water changes each week

Thanks for any thoughts.
I have the feeling it's a goner

Could be Brown Jelly disease. Here's some info:

http://www.coralscience.org/main/articles/pathology-2/ciliates

One thing to try would be to siphon off as much of the "gunk" as you can, being careful not to let it get loose in your tank and spread. You can try a Lugol's dip if you remove the frag from your tank. If it is BJD, it can spread to other corals so be careful. If you had a separate coral QT, you could remove the frag and treat there.

Good luck.

Could you tell me the type of lights that you have, how long you keep them on, and the min and max temperature of the tank.

Thank-you for the responses.

I actually did a Lugols dip last night after I posted....having read further about brown slime.
Considering repeating tonight.
I definitely have had a small amount of "brown stringy tissue" coming out occasionally between the heads over the last several days.

Think I should probably go pick up a nano this afternoon as QT.

FWIW I have 2 radeons about 8 inches above the water (90 gallon tank)
On the "natural light setting" come on at 700am slowly reaching 80% intensity for a 4-6 hours in the afternoon.... Then off at 800PM.
Mild to moderate water flow.

A hammer coral at the same level depth on the other side of the tank seems to be doing fine.

I have a couple acropora, couple montipora, couple stylophora, and a candy cane all flourishing.

Appreciate your thoughts and thanks
M
