I posted this in my vodka tracking thread, but thought I would try this section as well for input. I am trying to determine if certain heads of a frogspawn are dying from a lack of light on the bottom sections, if it's the vodka dosing, or another unknown factor. Dosing has been going on for about 2 weeks.
Water param - nitrates 20ppm-30ppm. phosphates .25ppm. calc - 400-440ppm. mag - 1240. sg - 1.025. temp 79.
I am currently using tap water, I am getting my RODI unit later today and will start using it this week for top off as well as the next water change. I am interested to see if this pays off as well, as I have heard a lot of you MUST have rodi. Currently I have running this system since March 2011 but had to change to a new tank this summer....so more realistically the tank is around 6 months old.
Here is a photo before the lights were on this morning.
And after the lights are on, you'll see all the bottom heads are much less open. Note the dead head on bottom has been dead since I got the thing. Also, the splitting of a couple of them has just been happening the last 2-3 weeks.
Here is a full tank shot from one month ago, a couple weeks before dosing started :
I also have a video(pardon the shaky camera work and focus job, it's all manual on my dSLR). Wondering about the flow, too much, too little etc. I also got the other euphyllia corals, including the small frogspawn on the far right which is a frag from the one in question.
