Frogspawn Question

A few years ago I purchased a small 2 headed frogspawn frag. Back then it was considered a cool looking fluorescent green frogspawn with purple tips. Now in the crazy named coral days it would be a Purple tipped Hulk Frogspawn.

As my tank was young, and my parameters were unstable, both heads died :(

Being busy with other tanks issues, I left the frag mounted on my rocks, and after a month or so I noticed a small green dot on the skeleton in between where it split for the 2 heads. It was a single polyp. Overtime, the tiny dot turned into a little hot cross bun. It now had 4 polyps.

Go forward about a 1.5 years and the new head is now the size of a golf ball (when inflated). Then last night I noticed something weird. One of the arms of the frogspawn had something in it heavy. Upon closer inspection it looks like an arm has coral skeleton growing inside of it at the end, with the new skeleton not attached to the main skeleton.

Here is a photo. You can see the tissue with the skeleton hanging straight down. Although the new skeleton almost looks attached (in the photo), it is only attached to the colony by the polyps tissue. It just flops around in the current.

What do you think? Is this going to drop off and become a new frag?

I'm not 100% sure it was this forum, but I saw a few months back, a post about "dripping" corals as a way to reproduce. google drip coral or some such thing and see what you get. HTH
