frogspawn reproduction?

I am wondering about ways that frogspawn can reproduce. I have a piece I got from a fragswap at the beginning of March. It has four small tubes growing out of the base which I have been told will form into new heads.

I was wondering if there are other ways for this coral to reproduce because...

I noticed when the lights came on that there was a ball attached on the lower right side of the head. (size was between a pea and a grape-see picture) It seemed to be attached the same as any of the tentacles. It was gone the next time I checked the tank, I am sure hidden in the rocks somewhere. I am hoping that this was some type of reproductive technique but have no idea.

Thanks for any help.

Hard to say for sure what it is. Looks like poo though. They reproduce asexually like yours is doing with the new heads forming. They also reproduce sexually. They are internal brooders. They capture sperm from the water and fertilization takes place inside the coral. As the eggs develop they migrate into the tentacles.

To my knowledge frogspawn can bud new heads like yours is doing right now. I have also seen heads of frogspawn "split" into two different heads over time. Sexual reproduction is something that I am sure can occur, but as for how often it actually it happens I can't really say.
Another way the frogspawn gets around is - one heads splits, and gets heavy on a certain area. Eventually, this head break off and land elsewhere (usually nearby) and start a new colony.

That's definatly not poo. If it was expelling waste, it would be coming out of it's mouth, not the side of it's skeleton.

your frogspawn is budding new heads. This type of reproduction is my fave, since there is a potential for all those heads to split again once they are big enough.

congrats on the new babies !
