frogspawn too big for my tank?

I have a huge frog spawn in a 60 gallon cube with a 20 gallon sump. I dont have a dosing system, but do add fusion 1&2 everyother day. I cannot for the life of me get my alk & cal up. my question is can the frogspawn big too big for my tank that it sucks it up too fast? it has about 35 heads. IM at the point where im considering trying to sell it. Its not dying just doesnt look good. picture below is from about 2 months ago . its a little worse now

You may not be adding enough of the Fusion. I've used it for calcium with a pretty lightly stocked tank and needed A LOT more than the couple of capfulls the directions on the bottle called for. There is a calculator here that might be useful:

Where is your cal and alk level currently? I used to use the 2 part fusion until I decided to try the BRS 2 part. It's so much better and you can make gallons for what that fusion costs.

Im not positive where my mag or cal is right now. Havent tested in about a week. My alk was 100 last night. How can i raise it fast without harming anything?

I think 100 is pretty low (5.6 dkh?) and I'm not sure that you can raise it fast without harming your inhabitants. I'm not sure what the max you can raise it is, maybe .5 dkh per day? Check out the chemistry forum. There is some good info there about it. Also use the calculator to figure out how much you would need to dose to raise it that much and go from there.

But, while the Fusion is nice because of the other elements in it, I think you end up needing a ton of it to keep your levels where they need to be, and then you end up inadvertently raising things like Mag and what not. Personally, I use Randy's recipe for Alk. It's just baked baking soda mixed in water. The calculator will calculate that for you as well.

Just a heads up, if you decide to go that way, one of his recipes (the baked baking soda recipe) will raise PH pretty substantially if you start dosing a lot at one time. He has another recipe where you don't bake it. I think that recipe has a minimal impact on PH and might be the way you need to go.
