Frogspawn ???

I have a four headed frog spawn. One of the heads is splitting into 2. One head is not expanding and does not look good for two days now. Others look healthy.

A piece floated off yesterday. Can this be saved or is it doomed? The head in question is in the lower left of the picture.

looks like it might have brown jelly...you might want to frag that head off.

Correct, looks like a gone'er. I love frog's. After I have lost a few heads over the past, new sprouts have grown back around the base of the skeleton. Once you see a crab start to eat it, consider it gone...Here's a pic of a few frogs we've had going on 2 years now...

Here is somthing to try, it saved my frog spawn if you see brown stringy stuff it is brown jelly it the Frog spawn infected head smells putrid it is brown jelly no to save it here is what i did. First i suckioned the bad head to remove as mush of the BJ as i could if it is real bad the the whold head will come out it's a gonner any way your trying to save the rest any how. then dip the FS in freash RO water for 2 mins while you are doing that prepare a lugol's solution you can get it at Dr Fosters&Smiths for about 12.00 put 40 drops into one gallon of tank water set the FS in the solution directly after the FW dip for 15 mins the FS will freak out but it will be ok it will gel up and the green coloring on the tips will appear to be streaming off after you put it in the tank this will stop after about 2 hrs. Your FS will be receeded for a day or 2 but it will come back out bigger than ever. I know it sounds extream but this disease is very extream it will eat a head in about 4 days depending on how big te heads are.

I am still not convinced it is brown jelly. There is no brown stringy stuff?

How can I verify it is brown jelly before stressing out my frogspawn with frsh water dips and lugols solution?

take it out and smell it if it smells really bad then it is likely brown jelly remember BJ starts from the inside and works it way out by the time you see the brown gunk it can be to late and just FYI if your FS is not dieased the freash water dip and lugols solution dips will not hurt it at all it will just stumble for a few hours then it will be like nothing ever happened it is important to not let the FW dip not exceed 2 mins and the lugols solution not more than 15 mins if you follow that it will not harm the FS.
