From 29gal to 120gal

Well everyone I thought that I would post a couple of questions that I have. I have read up as much as I could but I really didnt find the answer that I was looking for so maybe someone could give me a bit of help. Right now I have a up and running 29gal tank with a 15gal sump on it. It has about 40lbs of live rock and rubble in the tank and also in the sump. My question is If Im going to be using dead rock for my new 120gal tank can I move everything over to it from my 29gal and not have any major issues. That is including rock, coral, fish, and a cup of sand to seed the new sand that is going into the 120. I have read alot of things about people doing this to smaller tanks but this is going to be a big change and I dont want anything to happen to my corals and fish. Im kind of expecting a small cycle to happen but Im going from about a total of 45gals of water to I would have to say about 145gals total including the sump on the 120. So if anyone has any great input on this please let me know so I can take the right actions for it. And when I get everything ready for doing it I will start a thread about it. Right now I have to sale all the cichlids that I have in the 120 and then start on all of the fun stuff. I have gotten a overflow kit from glass-holes.com that I will drill the tank for its the 1500gph kit. I also got off a person in locally a sump and a G1 skimmer for it. I have gotten the lights already so its down to getting the fish that is in there out and start to prep it for the great reef tank that it was ment to be.

When I upgraded from my 29 to my 90 I used base rock. What I did was put 100 pounds of base rock with 10 pounds of live rock from my 29 and my sand into the 90 and let it cycle. I could have added everything at once and it would have probably worked but I liked the added peace of mind I got from letting the base rock cycle

I wish I had that choice but all I have room for is just the one tank so I cant have them both up and going at the same time. That is the hard part of this is the room. Im thinking with that much water volume I should be able to keep things under control with water changes but Im not 100% sure.

you can always cycle your base rock in a rubbermaid container then once the cycle completes do the tank switch and your new rock will already be cycled.
