fromalin bad for breed stock?

I have spawning fish with viable larvae that I gave formalin baths, if that helps. Brook is definitely bad for broodstock though...If you could snap a picture, I or someone here might be able to help you identify and treat the problem.

must be brook season. One of my customers had an outbreak affecting half of the fish he ordered from me. He formalin dipped all clowns 3 days in a row and seems to have settled it.

Same thing happened to me last year Kathy; they put a batch of my clowns in the same system with WC and more than half got brook and died. They understood what they did and ate the cost, but I didn't enjoy seeing my hard work go sour like that :( I have my own dedicated system at that shop now :)

MimicTang, I'm sure her fish didn't have brook, but they can still contract it from other sick fish, especially juvenile fish that are slightly stressed from moving to a new tank.

Yup, my fish at home are all fine and thriving. They put my fish in with their wild caught and boom! Brook all over. They did the formalin thing and the fish that survived are fine now. Now they know not to put my fish with the untreated WC, and have a dedicated nanocube, 20 gallons, for my fish. They have also learned to segregate new fish from the corals, and use lower salinity. I predict they won't have a problem again.
