Around 3 weeks ago my friend took down his tank and gave me some hermits, a peppermint shrimp and a red fromia starfish. His salinity was quite a bit lower than mine so I drip acclimated for 4 hours which was enough time for his water parameters to match mine.
After 24 hours all the hermits were fine and the peppermint shrimp was quite active, but the starfish hadn't moved. I figured it wasnt going to make it, yet 3 weeks later it is still alive but still doesnt really move around much. It will seemingly stay in one place but if you keep checking you will find its 'arms' change position which proves it is still alive. It is currently on my sand bed and in 48 hours it has moved perhaps 2 inches to the right. Its 'stomach' hasnt sunk in yet so I dont think it is starving, but I am just wondering if it will recover or is it just dying a very slow death?
