Fromia Stars

I have not been able to have an success with them. Getting a healthy one is the first challenge. Afer that proper nutrition for long term success is the next huge hurdle.

I have had my fromia for ~6 weeks, but who knows how long it will last? Seems that stars are hit or miss for long term success.

Ive had an orange fromia for about 6 months, it appeared to be in decent shape when I bought it. After about a week I noticed one of its arms starting to die off, Id assume this is due to collection, shipping, stressful tank changes, the usual culprit. However the arm grew back in several more weeks and Ive noticed overall growth of ths starfish. Seems to be doing well, its usually hidden in the rockwork, but really neat when its in the open.

We have a pink and an orange in separate tanks. Both are going on probably 5+ months at this point and doing well. Most people say that theirs are often in the rock work "hiding" - we must have the outgoing ones then! Ours are normally on the glass, or cruising out in the front of the tank where you can see them...it's kind of nice. :)

picked up this guy about a week and a half ago. Some really nice ones came in and I couldn't pass one up. It went straight for the worst part of the tank and has been systematically cleaning a small portion the rock. So as of now seems that it's getting plenty of food. Now if it'll eat hydroids and bubble algae it'll be the perfect reef inhabitant.
the other one I had tried before had been shipped this one was local and from a good source, so i figured it was worth a bit of risk.

We really don't know how to feed them, so they always starve to death. The sad part is it takes them long long time, and people hardly think of starvation when the poor thing finally succumbs.
